2015

The WHO Collaborating Centre for Population Salt Reduction conducted a consultation to support the Indonesian Ministry of Health collect data on salt intake levels, with the aim of establishing an evidence base for carrying out a salt reduction program in the country. More information is available here.

2013

A presentation delivered to the WHO Regional Office for South East Asia detailed salt reduction activities in Indonesia. The presentation referred to the National Basic Health Survey, which found that 77% of the population (aged 10 years and older) add salty seasoning to their food.

In Indonesia there is a regulation to enforce correct food labelling. Food must have information on sugar, salt and fat, as well as necessary health messages, and laboratory tests must be carried out to verify the nutrition facts. The full presentation can be viewed here.
