New Research: Estimating the health and economic effects of the proposed US Food and Drug Administration voluntary sodium reformulation
A new modelling study has been published, investigating the potential health and economic benefits of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s draft voluntary salt reduction targets. The researchers created three scenarios - 100% compliance with the proposed targets, 50% compliance, and short-term compliance only. Even with minimal complaince from the food industry, the FDA guidance would have benefits for the economy, population blood pressure and resultant health conditions.
We have summarised the results in a new blog post, which can be viewed here.
